Waters Equipment Hire and Repair is the new name for the tool hire side of Cholwill Plant which has been providing tool and plant hire for over 35 years, servicing customers across Devon and Cornwall from our base in Holsworthy.

Dave and Hilary Cholwill established Cholwill Plant in 1988 with just one 1.5 ton digger and a dream. In 2004 they expanded the business and bought Reeves Hire, merging the two together. For 35 years they dedicated themselves to building and providing a professional but friendly, family run hire company with great success. In 2023 they made the decision to retire and we at PAL Rentals bought the business from Dave and Hilary. The directors of PAL Rentals are James and Tim Langmead, who had previously owned A39 Skip hire. They are continuing with Cholwill Plant and will be providing plant hire, specifically mini diggers, rollers and dumpers.

Behind Waters Equipment Hire is Karl and Natalie Waters, we have always lived and worked locally. I (Karl) have worked as a mechanic since leaving school at 16 and gained an NVQ level 3 in HGV mechanics, working for  the same company for 12 years. Subsequently I managed a busy workshop, servicing, diagnosing and repairing anything from a drill to a 44 ton artic with cars, vans, agricultural and plant in between.

We are looking forward to embracing this next chapter taking on a well known family run business and plan to keep it very much that way, offering everything that was on offer before and also bringing a servicing and repair service of all tools and equipment including horticultural.
